June 13, 2019: Thompson sustains a torn ACL in his left knee

During the third quarter of Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals, Thompson attempted to dunk the ball on a fast break when he was fouled by Danny Green of the Toronto Raptors. Thompson landed awkwardly and immediately grabbed his left knee in pain. He was helped off the court and did not return to the game.

June 14, 2019: Thompson undergoes surgery
